Alterations for I3
After todays presentation and received feedback, I have decided on a few changes.
The first point raised was pause options. Pause will only be available on the single player.
The second point was the radar. I feel the radar wouldn’t work on a small screen and the current radar should remain part of the . There isn’t much ‘real estate’ left on the screen. So to include active enemy detection for in-game, I will use a radial type representation on the screen, with arrows to point to the direction of the enemy.
The radar that can be viewed while in portrait, is to be used while in the green zone. The green zone will be act as a resupply area, where the aircraft will be inactive. Thus the radar will help in determining when to exit or to aid in strategic plans.
Presenations
Today I did the presentation to satisfaction. It went well, better than expected while working on the fly thinking of what to say.
There has been interesting feedback, which will definantly put extra work onto the final product. ‘Tab’ like system in Counter-strike to bring up a HUD system.
The flash website I’ve consulted with a person and the website could be done even at my current skill level.
Milestone two
Minisite two has been completed to an extent I am happy with even though its not perfect at the moment. The website still contains a problem of creating a ‘mystery gap’ which I can’t solve even after with the help of Kevin, Kaz and Kristina.
Considerations for part three of this assignment, is leading me to think I can keep the current site but fixing the issues will be important. However, I may choose to change the website again and work with the html from scratch again.
Update
So far, the website layout has been produced. The banner took sometime, and it was then after doing the banner, the idea for the whole website layout came. There is still an issue of ‘a gap’ only experienced in Firefox and not in IE. I got no idea whats wrong even after a lot of time of checking and trial and error.
A flash demonstration of prototype two has been developed which shows the game menus. Development of the 2nd part for the in-game re-designs has started.
Echo Tango Alpha
There are 5 days left, and there is still a lot to be done.
Its going to be a really crappy week.
I’ve done my best so far to prepare all the things that I can complete but its taken too much time. The new prototype has almost been completed along with the flash tutorial. Will need to get feedback and then analyse the feedback in one day. Still need to learn about javascript to use for iteration two….’What the heck is javascript ?!’
And then there is 1008 assignment…. real crap week.
Re-development
Begun redesigning the splash page to accommodate the new mini sites and Deco1008. I”m developing the deco 1008 site first at the moment because I got an idea for the layout. I’ll move onto mini site 2 once I’ve gone through some of the prototype re-development.
Thats it for the time being.
Level II
“Develop/evaluate revised prototype
Respond to feedback from evaluation. (20%)”
So the feedback has asked for better visuals. Need to develop a new control panel. Need research a few flight control panels existing. Try and incorporate a map radar like system into the already small enough screen size. Then try and develop some kind of flying landscape for a map.
Feedback on controls suggests portrait has the most troubling control layout at the moment. I’m now considering making landscape the primary view for control and using the portrait mode to be used for another set of views or controls.
Feedback from website suggests for a more vibrant website in terms of colour and also developing the site to suit any resolution. I also wish to make the website with more animations to it, possibly a flash website. This is to grab people’s attention when they view the site.
A lot of work ahead. Sigh…
I think a milestone has been reached…
The website for iteration one has been finalised.
Sit Rep
So, there has been a slight absence from the blogs. But doesn’t mean nothing has occurred behind the scenes.
Prototype mock ups have been made.
Currently, surveys have collected multiple ‘anonymous’ ‘ interests.
The website has been redeveloped to be more visually appealing.
There isn’t really anything else to say at this point. Friday is the deadline, so pushing to have things finalised.
Validation….complete.
After some hard work and assistance from Rob and Kaz, the iteration one website is operational on FireFox AND IE……….
Everything on the website is “Valid” not “Tentatively” valid, so its firing on all cylinders.
Preparing to put the main content onto the website now.
